me

So far Guam has been pretty good. Everyone I come across on base has a bad impression of this place and wants to leave; however, they all agree that four months is the perfect amount of time to be here without getting sick of it.

My first weekend here I went to “Big Navy” across the island to go snorkeling at Gab Gab beach and do some shopping in their NEX, which was a BX on steroids. It is definitely the largest store I’ve ever seen on any base.

I have been going to the gym every weekday in hopes of building a muscle or two. We’ll see how long this trend lasts. My other free time is spent in the “Hot Spot,” which is the airman’s center on base that has every game console, DVDs to watch in their mini theater, pool and ping-pong tables, and wi-fi. I haven’t been on the internet very much and when I am, I use the time to do my homework… I’m still enrolled in three classes for another few weeks.

It’s Friday at midnight right now so it’s 6am on Thursday in CA and 8am in TX, so I’m going to go get some sleep or hopefully Heather will wake up and log into her webcam… I hope you reading this now!!!

I will be uploading pictures here for now.

I’m currently in the middle of a six hour layover in Tokyo. I have Heather in the webcam and Jared in an IM window. I am an international multi-tasker!

The flight from Dallas took forever especially since the guy next to me didn’t say a word. I think he was a Navy officer or someone who likes to read about navy stuff. I read all of I am America (and so can you!) on the flight in between naps.

Gah! When I sat here I was the only one here now there are people all around me. It’s no where near a gate either… I’m going to find some sushi and sake, which I doubt will be hard to do here.

Christmas07

Tentatively, I’ll be back home in california on the 20th until about the 2nd. I’m going to try to stay a few days longer but the deployment sort of has priority and dictates when and where I can be. Anyway, you can start planning for my arrival now by rolling out the red carpets and lightly dropping rose petals on your front porches. I’m such a jerk.

Although this message is taken out of context, isn’t this a sad E-mail to receive?

This is why I’m especially glad to be going to Guam instead of the arabias. Thanks for sending me this link Cam and for giving the interwebs the night terrors.

guam

Okay, I’ve actually been meaning to write for a awhile now because I have something to write about that warrants a big informal notification to the interwebs. Last week it became officially that I’ll be deploying to Guam. I’m not sure what to expect but I’m hoping that I’ll be attached to a combat surfing unit who endlessly hunts down the perfect wave. However, I’m not even sure if Guam has waves. I’m too lazy to google it.

In other tropical news, I applied for a special duty to pearl harbor. Pray with me that we get it. We should find out by Christmas at the latest.

Today I got my network+ certification. The test wasn’t that bad although the studying was… which is probably why the test wasn’t that bad.

In other education news, the winter term started for me tonight and I think I’m going to have a balanced term as I’m taking accounting and research writing. I may try to squeeze in an online information systems class too.

Heather and I will both be in back CA for Thanksgiving so if you miss me, be patient because apparently when you get married the in-laws get you first. Which is a great thing! SRLY.

Damn I love jalapeño cheese bread or as the local United Supermarket calls it: Jalapeno Cheddar Focaccia. It’s still not as good as the day-old Stater Bros. bread that Grandpa used to buy for us growing up, but tasty none the less.

clearwire…

Posted on Wednesday 19 September 2007

The dissatisfaction that is Clearwire continues… Apparently they took my website down (http://mrsquarehead.clearwire.net) because I wrote the truth about their service. It’s okay though; it’s their right to delete my page as stated in their Acceptable Use Policy:

“Clearwire reserves the right at any time, and periodically, to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, your Web Space, with or without notice. Clearwire may, in its sole discretion, terminate your Web Space, and remove any Content contained on your Web Space for any reason, including, without limitation, lack of use, or the reasonable belief that you have violated this AUP. You acknowledge that Clearwire will not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of your Web Space.”

Anyway, here’s what happened today… I checked their Terms of Service as I quite often do, usually on a weekly basis, because according to Article 1:

…if you do not wish to continue Service after a change that is materially disadvantageous to you, you may terminate this Agreement by providing written notice to Clearwire within twenty (20) days of the effective date of the modification, and you will not be charged any Early Termination Fee…

Rejoice! It’s the 19th and they changed the ToS on the 7th!

Today I called their cancellation department so I can opt out of their contract without termination fees because I’m within the 20 day window to do so. Get this, their customer care tells me that there is no mailing address to submit the written request but they can go ahead and cancel my account and collect the termination fee. Seriously bro? Did we not just have a 20 minute conversation about how I do not want to be charged a fee? Oh yeah, and I appreciate being put on hold 5 times only to be given a long distance number to your legal department in Washington.

I’ll go into the store tomorrow and see what the store clerk has to say.

I should be studying for the midterm that I have in 30 minutes. If I don’t get an ‘A,’ I’m blaming clearwire for that too.

Thanks Clearwire. I love you too!
